A fine quality, beautifully flavoured long-grain rice.

It gets its unique flavour from the soil in which it is grown.

Nutty, yet sweet, this works well with curry and coconut flavours.

When cooked, it swells only lengthwise, resulting in long slender grains that are dry, separate and fluffy

To Cook- (using absorption method)

400g basmati rice

  • Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear, drain well
  • Place the rice in a large heavy based saucepan and add enough water to come about 5cms above the surface of the pan. (If you stick your index finger into the rice so that it sits on the bottom of the pan, the water will come up to the second joint)
  • Add 1 teaspoon of salt and bring the water quickly to boil- uncovered
  • When it is boiling, cover and reduce to a simmer
  • Cook for 15 minutes or until the rice is just tender, then remove the saucepan from the heat and rest the rice for 10 minutes without removing the lid
  • Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
